Group 2: CASE STUDY 2: Numbness and Pain
A 47-year-old obese female complains of pain in her right wrist, with tingling and numbness in the thumb and index and middle fingers for the past 2 weeks. She has been frustrated because the pain causes her to drop her hair-styling tools.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: This is a condition that leads to cases of pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and the wrist of a person. This is caused by an issue of pressure in the wrist and the impact on the median nerve and leading in the ring in the finger leading to the poor sensation (Genova et al., 2020).
Wrist Arthritis: This is an inflammation in the joints of a patient and is one of the common issues of concern learning in cases of osteoarthritis and this is a protective cushioning between the joints as alluded by Meier et al. (2017). The bones rub directly against the other bones leading the wear and tear and the risks of having Wrist Arthritis are seen in the case of a person who is 47 years. The other risks that one is facing are cases of having overweight and with a job that causes stress to the joints for the cases the female patient, she is aged 47 and is working as a hairstylist.
Lupus: This is a condition that arises when one’s immune system attacks the tissues and this leads to cases of inflammation and then causing pain and damage. The symptoms of the condition include issues of fatigue, fever, lupus rash, and cases of fatigue.
There will be a need for the use of anti-inflammatory or having an analgesic drug and this is an important process since it allows for the treatment by injections and use of pain relievers for the combinations
The other thing that is to be taken into consideration is to use of finger or wrist splints or soft sleeve devices and the certain activities that could help in the management of the joint and resting for the patients. The other thing that should be taken into consideration is the heat treatment such as paraffin baths and the need for performance of exercises given by the doctor to help in the management of the health issue….
