Cultural Community Needs

Describe specific culture/ethnic population selected in detail.

The selected community to be considered in the analysis is the Hispanic community. The members of the ethnic community that is being taken into consideration among the Hispanic community are the adolescent women. The women of the Hispanic community have been found to have health challenges that are related to healthcare challenges such as obesity. As presented in the HP2020, the Hispanic community is one of the communities with a double number of obesity as compared to the other communities (Healthy People 2030., 2020).

Further, the community is largely at risk of other healthcare challenges, and that there is a need for the healthcare providers to help in the identification of the health challenges and the best way to handle the issue of concern. The community has a larger risk of having an increase in weight and body mass index as compared to other ethnic communities or their male counterparts. The women are exposed to various disparities of health and are faced with an exposure to the various disparities hence leading to the rise in the risks of obesity among the women of the Hispanic community.

Describe the rationale for selecting this population.

The rationale for the selection of this community is that the Hispanic community is considered to be the largest minority group in more than 191 metropolitan areas in America. Knutson et al. (2017) indicate that the projected population for the Hispanic community in 2050 will be 132.8 million and this is more than 30.2% of the total projected population of the US. Being such a large community, it is fundamental that there is an assessment of any health issues that could affect the population. The assessment will be instrumental in the determination of the aspect of disparities and the extent that it has on the healthcare standards of the population…
