Nurses are faced with issues of a dilemma on many occasions and there is a need for the healthcare providers to help in the determination of ways to handle such decisions. Theories are instrumental for a nurse practitioner in that they allow one to get a practice protocol or procedure that helps in the enhancement of the safety and the quality of the decision that is being made. As a result, nurse practitioners should have an understanding of the theories used in practice. This paper presents an annotation of articles on theories used by nurse practitioners.

Abdeyazdan, Z., Moshgdar, H., & Golshiri, P. (2017). Evaluating the effect of lifestyle education based on health belief model for mothers of obese and overweight school-age children on obesity-related behaviors. Iranian journal of nursing and midwifery research22(3), 248. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5494957/

The objective of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the use of lifestyle education based on the health belief model among mothers who have obese children. The mothers are expected to be educated on the obesity-related behaviors of school-aged children. As per the author, obesity is one of the global health issues and the issue has tripled among children in the past 30 years. The issue of obesity leads to complications such as high blood pressure and cardiovascular conditions among other complications. The kind of lifestyle that one is living has a great impact on the healthy behavior of an individual child and parent. Thus, the risks of obesity can be reduced with the implementation of the right training of children.

The study is in line with the health belief model in that there is a provision of an education program that allows for the behavior of the patients to be changed. The parents and the school-aged children are expected to have an improved healthy lifestyle with the execution of an education program. The mothers are expected to be educated on the importance and the need for change to avoid complications of obesity.
