Cons of Physician Assisted Suicide

There has been an extensive discussion on issues of euthanasia in the US for the past many years. Irrespective of the fact that some have supported the need for implementation of a policy to allow for physicians to take part in helping the patients in deciding on suicide, there at those that do not agree. The argument is that healthcare providers are supposed to help in the provision of advice to the patients and not make decisions for them. The focus of this discussion is to discuss the various cons of physician-assisted suicide.

Context

In many instances, patients who are suffering from terminal illnesses become depressed and develop issues of anxiety. The condition they are in could even get worse and the patient ends up getting hospice care or palliative care. However, the patient can decide to end their life before the condition worsen. The decision could be taken into account due to the financial constraints or the pain that the patient is suffering from.  The decision on end of life has been taken up by the patient and the family members but in other instances, the healthcare providers have been part of the discussion. This may have advantages but there are disadvantages to such actions….
