The idea of Henry Clay’s “American System.”

McNaylor (2016) opines that the American system was the plan that was expected to help in the unification of the government. The idea by Henry Clay was based on three components namely the internal improvements, having protective tariffs, and the chartering of the second bank of the United State. Typically, it is provided that the government in the American system is expected to deposit funds in the bank and there was a need for the support of the need for acceptance of banknotes as payments for such things as the land and taxes. Under the American system as well there was a need for the government to purchase 20% of the stocks in the bank and that there was the implementation of protective tariffs on the taxes for goods that were imported from countries such as Britain (Truman, 2017).
